This page is simply a collection of some resources that I have made to use in mathematics lessons.
| Equation Cards.xls | These are double sided cards that have an equation on one side and numbers on the back. They work in a 'follow me' style. There is also an advanced version with harder equations. |
| Algebra Loop Cards.xls | These are a classic version of the follow-me style game. Used for consolidation of algebra and expressions. |
| Sequence Cards.xls | Print these double sided so that on one side is a long list of numbers and a two-digit number on the other. Ask the class to give you a two-digit number and then tell then the long number on the back from memory. See if they can work out how you do it. |
| Circle Starter.ppt | A quick starter to test if the class know the names for each part of a circle. |
| Pythagoras.ppt | An introductions to Pythagoras Theorem. |
| Ratio Starter.ppt | A starter to test the understanding of the class on the ideas of ratio. Use with mini whiteboards. |
| Card Exercise.ppt | Break up the lesson with a bit of fun and exercise. For younger classes remove some of the rules. |
| Decimal Calculations.ppt | A plenary to test if students can perform decimal calculations. Use with the small whiteboards. |
| World Issues.zip | Images that tackle world issues. I have used this a few times and always had a very positive reaction. The music goes well with the pictures and creates a good discussion. This zip file may take a few minutes to download and will need to be extracted to play the music properly. |
| Horse Racing.xls | Excel file that uses macros to simulate horse racing. The instructions on how to use this file are on the first spreadsheet. |
| Timer.zip | Mission Impossible Timer. 60 second countdown, especially good for packing away in a hurry. This zip file may take a few minutes to download and will need to be extracted to play the music properly. |
| Tintin Interior Angles.ppt | A cartoon that explains the ideas of interior angles. The students love to be the characters. |
| Magic Square.xls | Create a magic square from algebra. |
I would be grateful if any mistakes or typos could be brought to my attention.
